while grilling last night, i noticed two baby preying mantis on one of our purple flower bushes; they were extremely tiny. today's shot is for a sense of scale; tomorrow and thursday we'll get a bit closer.

How can something that starts off so cute and tiny get to be something so ferocious, in a buggy kind of way? Great scale shot!

I'm not really into bugs, but I have to say, there is something about the preying mantis that I really like. They're elegant yet fierce. Looking forward to their closeups.
